About

This is supposed to be me.

Online, I have many aliases. My most widely used one is probably Chiaki, which I generally use when I'm on websites such as Figment, DeviantArt, InkPop, and other writing (and some visual art) communities. Lit Locker is the first blog where I'm using my real name. Which is Kayla, in case you haven't caught on by now.

This is also supposed to be me.
So my name is Kayla and I'll admit, I'm still in high school. However, the high school I attend is actually an arts school, where I am "majoring" in the literary arts (and hopefully business once I reach grade eleven). While I'm learning lots, I also have a lot more stuff to learn which is why I enjoy reading and rereading reference books on the craft, reading novels in my genre to pick up on techniques, and keeping up with blogs in the field.

This is why Lit Locker was created. To give back to a community that has helped me so far with my writing. I tried to make this blog diverse enough so most people who have a passion for lit (which is short for literature, in case you haven't already caught on) to stop by and chill for a while.

Gee, I sound like I'm advertising some kind of forum.

...And it's me, again. Everyone must love me.
The Lit Locker is specifically aimed at YA bookaholics and aspiring writers of every age group. I'll admit I've never been published before, but I've never actually submitted anything to a publishing company either. Mostly because I can never manage to get a novel done. However, I have won a couple contests (small ones) and have completed a week-long course in writing YA and MG fiction at some university-which-I-shall-not-name-due-to-my-extreme-but-not-that-extreme-Internet-paranoia-and-fear-of-being-stalked-by-pedos. Not that that makes me all-knowing or something. My point is basically that while I'm not an expert, I'm not completely clueless in this field.

Lit Locker's Rating System

You may have realised that Lit Locker's rating system basically consists of muffins. It's important that you read this. Most people tend to think that a rating of three muffins is a bad thing, but it's not. It's actually quite good. Things starts to go downhill from a rating of only two muffins, though.

Five muffins: Fracking incredible! Wait-beyond fracking incredible. I'm definitely buying a printed version for my book shelf!

Four muffins: Flipping amazing! If there's a sequel, I'm definitely getting an ecopy! This was a fantastic read I recommend to everyone!

Three muffins: This was an awesome read I couldn't put down. However, even so, I had  higher expectations for it.

Two muffins: Although the book wasn't completely terrible, I wasn't much of a fan.

One muffin: Not to be mean, but this book was really disappointing.
